Exanthem and efflorescences
Our topic then is the
exanthem, i.e. the skin rash as a whole,
and its smallest elements, the
efflorescences, which, looked at
closely, if necessary with a microscope, and described accurately, can lead to a
diagnosis. A blood test is rarely needed, especially for infants; it would simply
confirm the diagnosis. A skin biopsy is necessary only in very difficult cases;
it is important for diseases which require genetic mapping.

Both pictures of
exanthem (chicken pox und allergic exanthem) show us the front aspect of view.
These are typical and very different aspects of two illnesses.
